The Department of Agriculture Engineering was started in the year 2020 to offer a Bachelor of Engineering in Agriculture Engineering. The Department offers a 4-year B.E. Degree course in Agriculture Engineering. The syllabi and course structure are as per the guidelines of Anna University. The Agriculture Engineering department was established in 2020 with an intake of 30 students. Agriculture Engineering in the area of engineering is concerned with the Design, Construction, and Improvement of Farming Equipment and Machinery. Agriculture Engineers integrate technology with farming and use the latest technology to meet the challenges of environmental issues and activities. Students are provided the opportunity to have hands-on experience regarding Machine components and equipment, testing agricultural machinery to ensure safety and performance, and providing exposure to water and environmental concerns.

Hands-on training on crop production using tractor-operated farm implements is offered in the field. Our Students are undergoing internships and training in Farm machinery manufacturing industries, Drip irrigation manufacturing companies, Food processing Industries, Dairies, Renewable energy industries, etc. The Department intends to facilitate technical support to Farmers and Entrepreneurs to establish small-scale industries. The Department has signed MOUs with Agricultural allied industries through which Students get Placements, good packages in companies like Taark Equipments Private Limited, Pollachi.

Agricultural and Food Science Technicians

Agricultural and food science technicians assist agricultural and food scientists by performing duties such as measuring and analyzing the quality of food and agricultural products.

Agricultural and Food Scientists

Agricultural and food scientists research ways to improve the efficiency and safety of agricultural establishments and products.

Architectural and Engineering Managers

Architectural and engineering managers plan, direct, and coordinate activities in architectural and engineering companies.

Civil Engineers

Civil engineers design, build, supervise, operate, and maintain construction projects and systems in the public and private sector, including roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and systems for water supply and sewage treatment.

Conservation Scientists and Foresters

Conservation scientists and foresters manage the overall land quality of forests, parks, rangelands, and other natural resources.

Environmental Engineers

Environmental engineers use the principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems. They are involved in efforts to improve recycling, waste disposal, public health, and water and air pollution control.

Farmers, Ranchers, and Other Agricultural Managers

Farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural managers operate establishments that produce crops, livestock, and dairy products.

Hydrologists

Hydrologists study how water moves across and through the Earth’s crust. They use their expertise to solve problems in the areas of water quality or availability.

Industrial Engineers

Industrial engineers find ways to eliminate wastefulness in production processes. They devise efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or provide a service.

Mechanical Engineers

Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest engineering disciplines. Mechanical engineers design, develop, build, and test mechanical and thermal sensors and devices, including tools, engines, and machines.

Vision of the Department

The Agriculture Engineering department aims to produce well informed technocrats, who will be able to integrate engineering and technology inventions with farming and contribute towards sustainable growth in agriculture production across the globe.

Mission of the Department

M1: To prepare the students with in depth Engineering knowledge and skills so as to face the challenges in Agriculture namely Farm Mechanization, Soil and Water Conservation, Agricultural Processing and Post harvest value addition, Bio Energy utilization and Precision farming and prove their prowess and expertise as Agriculture Engineers.
M2: To equip the graduates to meet global challenges in agricultural growth.
M3: To create ample opportunity to interact with industries and institutions and sign MOU’s for mutual benefits.

  • Survey Laboratory
    The students are also imparted with hands on training on the cultivation of crops in the Rathinam Farm using power tiller and all kinds of farm implements including reversible plough.
